@ourlittlemoi on Motherhood, Style, and the Little Moments

Tell us more about who you are and what you do!

I'm a former marketer turned stay-at-home mom, now sharing little glimpses of my life and personal style on Instagram @ourlittlemoi — my creative outlet. It's a mix of everyday moments, things I love, and a bit of creative expression. Come say hi!

Mother's Day just passed, how did you celebrate?

We kept it pretty low key and just spent time together. It's also my husband's birthday weekend, so we usually do a picnic at our favorite little secret spot. We've had the place to ourselves two years in a row now, which is rare on Mother's Day weekend! It's kind of become our family tradition.

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

My favorite thing about motherhood is how every day brings something new. Some days feel like a challenge in every sense, but even in that there's so much growth for them and for me. And on the easier days, it's pure joy just getting to watch their little personalities unfold. Each of my kids has their own quirks and silliness, and it's the sweetest thing seeing who they're becoming. It really makes all the chaos feel meaningful.

What was something unexpected that no one prepared you for regarding motherhood?

Something I didn't expect was how bittersweet every milestone would feel. You're so proud and excited watching them grow, but at the same time you realize how quickly each phase passes. No one really prepares you for how aware you become of how limited and precious their childhood is. It makes you want to hold onto the little moments just a bit longer.

What is your number one piece of advice for someone expecting?

Honestly, you can never be fully prepared and that's okay. You don't always realize how much letting go of expectations becomes part of the journey. Your kids often lead the way and you grow right alongside them. When expecting mamas ask me about the "must have" baby essentials, I never really have a clear answer. I always say your baby will choose what works best. It's unpredictable and a little messy at times, but that's part of the beauty of it!

What is your earliest memory involving denim?

If you flip through my childhood photo albums, you'll probably find me in denim jeans, shorts, or overalls about 80% of the time. I was never a girly dress kind of kid (which definitely broke my mom's heart a little). Denim was always my thing. I also remember my mom keeping a knee length dark blue denim skirt from her 20s. Somehow it ended up hanging in my closet, so I like to think it was meant to be. Her waist was 22" and I've never been able to fit into it!

How do you like to style Just Black Denim jeans?

Just Black Denim makes such versatile jeans that can be styled in so many ways. My go to is pairing them with a comfy pointelle tee in the warmer months or layering them with cozy knitwear in fall and winter. They're truly a year round staple in my wardrobe.
