Tell us more about who you are and what you do!

Hi! My name is Anna Moon and I’m an independent artist originally from Littleton, CO, currently based in East Los Angeles.  I make music under the name Anna Moon + the stars and I’m releasing my debut full length record September 18th!  My music is a mix of alt-americana, heartland rock, and singer songwriter.  

Thank you! I’m so proud of this record and can’t wait for it to be out in the world.  The long story short is… I went on a solo road trip from LA back home to Colorado two Septembers ago and it was on this trip that I got the complete and total download/vision for this record.  It was a magical trip that felt very fated.  I took it during a full moon eclipse and I’m not sure exactly what happened but most of the lyrical content that you hear on the record spilled out of me in poetry form on this trip.  I got home a week later and spent all of the next year in the studio with my close collaborators and here we are now.  It’s the most honest and true to me thing that I’ve ever made and I’m thrilled to have it finally come out. :) 

I think my favorite part about working in music is the people I get to meet and do it with.  I’ve been so lucky to find my creative family both here (LA) and in NYC and I just think artists/creatives are the most fascinating people.  I love the way they see the world and it’s so fun to get to do what I love with people who inspire me.  The challenging part is how little control you have over outcome because things are constantly changing and there’s a lot of gatekeeping and also so many incredible artists out there that no one knows about, but I think the truth is you just have to do it because you love it.  Art matters so much right now.  

I LOVE War on Drugs and they were a huge influence for this record. Bruce Springsteen, Kathleen Edwards, Tom Petty, Waxahatchee, Fleet Foxes and Medium Build all heavily influenced this record as well.  I originally started writing songs because I was enthralled/obsessed with Damien Rice. With this record I really wanted to make something in the vein of all my favorite artists but from my own unique perspective as a highly sensitive female songwriter and I think I did just that.  

It’s funny, it’s influenced it quite a lot with this record.  I would call my current style vintage western 70’s chic- which very much matches the music on the album.  Lots of denim, good belts, fringe, basic tee’s and tanks and cowboy boots everyday.  I’m also a big dress gal.  I love to be comfortable while also looking like a complete vibe.  

Have fun and enjoy the process.  Believe in yourself and trust your vision. You are the one who is going to care about it the most so make sure to advocate for what you want.  

My Just Black Denim jeans are the perfect addition to my vintage western fashion aesthetic right now.  They pair perfectly with what I already have in my closet, look perfect with my cowboy boots and on top of all of that they are so comfy!  I love the wide leg fit and can’t wait to wear them all fall.
